We comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 when handling your personal information.

This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information. It does not limit or exclude any of your rights under the Privacy Act 2020.

By using our website or accepting services from us, you acknowledge that we will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this policy. We may update this policy from time to time.

Collection of your information

We collect personal information from you when you provide information to us directly.  This may occur when you contact us (for example, by email or telephone), use our website or engage with our services.

We may also collect personal information about you from third parties (for example, service providers or other organisations) where this is authorised by you or otherwise permitted by law, as well as from publicly available sources.

Reasons for collection

The purposes for collecting your personal information will depend on how you interact with us. We collect your personal information to:

Besides our staff, we may share this information:

Indirect collection of personal information 

From 1 May 2026, if we collect any of your personal information from someone other than you (for example, from a product provider, another adviser or a third-party service provider), we are required to take reasonable steps to let you know that this information has been collected.

When this occurs, we will tell you:

  • that we have collected information about you
  • the purpose for collecting it
  • who the intended recipients are
  • the name and address of the agency collecting and holding the information
  • whether the collection is required or authorised by law
  • your right to access and correct your information.

We will provide this notification as soon as reasonably practicable after the information is collected, unless an exception under the Privacy Act applies.

Retention and security

We will not hold your personal information for longer than is required for the purpose(s) for which it was collected (subject to any obligations at law to hold the information for longer periods).  We will ensure that security safeguards protect the information and we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that information will not be disclosed to any unauthorised person or organisation.

Your right of access and to correction

We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information held by us is accurate and up-to-date.  You are entitled to obtain from us confirmation as to whether or not we hold personal information about you and you are entitled to reasonable access to this information, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
